A dysfunctional family moves from Los Angeles to picturesque Murphy Springs, Colorado with hopes of a fresh start, but those plans are foiled when they discover that this quaint mountain refuge holds dark secrets that could tear them apart.

Justin Hurt

Justin Hurt is a writer/producer who has worn many hats in front of, and behind the camera in his years working in Los Angeles. He has written and produced many short films including LIFEGUARDS VS. ZOMBIES, THE OAKSTREET INCIDENT, and PROTOCOL. He has worked as a producer and researcher for television shows on networks such as FOX and HALLMARK. His latest script FEEDER won first place in the 2019 FRESH VOICES HORROR SCREENPLAY COMPETITION, and in 2020, placed as a semifinalist or finalist in the TSL FREE SCREENPLAY COMPETITION, 13HORROR, and the NOLA HORROR FILM FESTIVAL. His script is also an official selection in the HORRORHAUS FILM FESTIVAL. Other feature scripts include LIFEGUARDS VS. ZOMBIES, and ARMADILLO. He is currently working on a television pilot and treatment based on a popular series of sci-fi books.

Brian W. Smith

Brian W. Smith is an award winning writer. His scripts have won and placed at GenreBlast, ZedFest, Shriekfest, Hollywood Horrorfest, NOLA Horror Film Festival and more. Brian is a Film and Script Judge at the New York City Horror Film Festival as a member of the Programming Team and Head of the Screenplay Competition. He has screened films for the Big Apple Film Festival, Tribeca Film Festival and SXSW and read scripts for Nightmares Film Festival. Brian’s work as an actor can be seen in Onur Tukel’s film “Black Magic for White Boys.”

Marisa Forrest

Marisa Forrest is an LA transplant by way of Atlanta (after a brief stint in New York as a baby). She has Northeastern sophistication and Southern charm, and, after a few drinks, the accent to prove it. Marisa has immersed herself in the entertainment industry as a creator and consumer, voraciously watching films and television in both a historical and popular context. In her world, Parasite and the “Housewives” peacefully coexist. After beginning her career as a development executive, Marisa recently had the epiphany that screenwriting is her true calling. She is extraordinarily proud that all five of her scripts (three features and two pilots) have been awarded in multiple competitions. Marisa is insatiably curious and adores informed decisions, great punchlines, and Diet Dr. Pepper.

Rachel Brewer

Rachel Ellen Brewer was born in Maidstone, Kent, England in 1991. She grew up in Maidstone with her twin brother and her parents. Rachel began working in the insurance industry at the age of 19 but always loved to write. In 2012 she made the decision to attend Central Film School London. It was here where her love of screenwriting intensified. After completing her Diploma in Screenwriting, Rachel returned to full time employment in insurance. Finally, in 2019, her first short script was optioned. As of 2020, her first feature film is in post-production. Along with a love of screenwriting, Rachel plays football for a women’s team and is a keen football follower in general.

Her screenplay “Moon-Sick” has also been awarded Best Werewolf Short Script at the 2020 Hollywood Horrorfest and named an Official Selection of the HollyShorts Film Festival Screenplay Competition. Black Lullabies, the garage-goth duo she sings, plays bass, and occasionally drums for, can be heard on FX’s American Horror Story. She lives in Los Angeles, California with her husband, Ken, and their familiars, two dapper tuxedo cats. Her other car is a broom.
